D-Orbit, a leading space logistics company has signed a launch agreement with Turkish New Space pioneer, Plan-S. The strategic collaboration will include two missions scheduled between late 2024 and early 2025 where eight 6U satellites will be deployed as annouced by D-Orbit. These missions will utilize D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier for effective constellation placement.

Matteo Lorenzoni, D-Orbit’s Head of Sales, discussed the alignment between the two companies and their shared vision for innovative space logistics solutions accessible space technology.” This marks a step towards significantly enhancing global IoT connectivity and Earth Observation capabilities,” Lorenzoni stated.

Plan-S seeks to transform the IoT connectivity, Earth Observation, and Space as a Solution (SpaaS) sectors with their comprehensive, agile, and cost-efficient satellite technology solutions. The company’s offerings can be tailored for a variety of sectors including maritime, agriculture, and environmental management. Plan-S plans to develop a satellite constellation that achieves global coverage.

Emre Yanmaz, CFO of Plan-S, explained the decision to partner with D-Orbit, noting the reliability and efficiency of D-Orbit’s OTV technology for future satellite deployments. “Our decision to choose D-Orbit is rooted in the belief that, in future missions, we will be able to use its OTV capability to deploy our advanced satellite constellation efficiently and reliably,” said Yanmaz.
