Insider Brief
- Inversion Space receives $71M from the Air Force Research Laboratory and SpaceWERX to develop orbital reentry vehicles.
- ORVs will enable rapid, on-demand cargo delivery from space, potentially transforming logistics for military and commercial applications.
- The funding supports the STRATFI program, which aims to integrate advanced space technologies into U.S. defense operations.
Inversion announced it has secured $71 million from the Air Force Research Laboratory and SpaceWERX to further its development of orbital reentry vehicles (ORVs). These vehicles aim to enable fast, on-demand cargo delivery from space to Earth. The funding comes from the Strategic Funding Increase (STRATFI) program, a Department of the Air Force initiative focused on fostering cutting-edge space technologies for military use.
This funding will allow Inversion to continue developing autonomous reentry vehicles designed for rapid transportation and precise landings. The ORVs could drastically improve logistics for military operations and commercial enterprises by delivering critical supplies or materials to remote, difficult-to-reach locations or during emergency situations. The focus on autonomous operations ensures that the delivery process will be efficient and timely.
According to reports, Inversion’s technology could prove valuable for various applications, including military supply chains, humanitarian aid during disasters, or even medical supply deliveries in isolated areas. The U.S. Air Force is closely evaluating how this capability could enhance its agility and responsiveness during global operations.
