Anduril Industries announced that it has secured $1.5 billion in a Series F funding round, bringing the company’s valuation to $14 billion. Co-led by Founders Fund and Sands Capital, the round also included investments from Fidelity, Counterpoint Global, Baillie Gifford, Altimeter, and Franklin Venture Partners. This new funding aims to scale Anduril’s defense manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand for autonomous weapons systems.

A significant portion of the investment will go toward Arsenal, Anduril’s new manufacturing platform designed to produce tens of thousands of autonomous systems for modern warfare. Arsenal emphasizes simplicity, resilient supply chains, and software-defined production. The platform’s cornerstone is Arsenal-1, a five-million-square-foot facility that will house the production of these systems. Once operational, Arsenal-1 will enable Anduril to respond swiftly to changes in demand and launch new products with minimal delay.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has highlighted vulnerabilities in the U.S. defense supply chain, with concerns that a large-scale conflict could rapidly deplete current weapons stockpiles. Traditional defense production methods often involve slow and rigid processes and have struggled to keep pace with modern demands. Anduril aims to address these challenges by adopting agile manufacturing practices similar to those in the commercial sector.

By integrating commercially available components and leveraging a software-driven approach, Anduril plans to produce defense systems at a scale and speed previously unseen in the industry. This strategy is evident in Anduril’s ongoing investments in other facilities, including a $75 million expansion in Mississippi for solid rocket motors and a new production site in Rhode Island for autonomous underwater vehicles.

Anduril’s commitment to revolutionizing defense production extends beyond just building new factories. The company is using its own capital to develop Arsenal, aiming to set a new standard in defense manufacturing by combining modern software with rapid hardware development. This approach ensures that Anduril can deliver critical capabilities to the U.S. and its allies in a timely and scalable manner, addressing the urgent need for advanced autonomous defense systems.
